Make way for Little Man turned Big Boy!!!

Yesterday we went to Jeffrey's 6 month check-up and oh. my. gosh! I knew he was getting bigger quickly but I had no idea he is the same size Haley was at her ONE YEAR APPOINTMENT!  This is crazy! Haley was 8 ounces bigger and .75 inches longer but that is not much of a difference at all.  He has gained 3lbs and 4 inches in two months!  No wonder my arms hurt after carrying him around for awhile.  :) I know there are bigger babies out there (I know some of them personally) but I have always had the "little" babies and it is just going to be fun to see how big Jeffrey gets before his birthday.

Anyway, Dr. B. said he is doing great and we can start giving him food.  We have already given him bananas and apples but Dr. B. wants us to give him rice cereal first so he gets used to eating without it being too sweet.  I am just not sure what I want to do.  Haley never cared for the cereal and I don't blame her.  Have you ever tasted rice cereal?!  Yuck!

He is also trying more and more to sit up unassisted.  He is doing pretty good but he hasn't figured out how to push himself back up if he leans too far over.  He can roll both ways and is pretty quick about flipping over if he doesn't like how he is laying.  He can also push himself around on the floor but hasn't figured out how to go forward so he ends up pushing himself backwards and then gets mad because he is further away from his toys.  Ha ha!  It is funny to watch but I'm hoping he figures it out somewhat soon so he doesn't get so mad.  :)

Yesterday after the doctor appointment, we went to my cousin's house and had a playdate.  She has 2 little boys (3 years old next month and 15 month old) and all the kids love each other so much.  They played pretty good together considering none of them had a nap.  It was fun watching how little boys play compared to what Haley does all day long.  Gave me an insight into what I have to look forward to once Jeffrey is running around chasing Haley everywhere.

Sweet baby boys!

Extreme Couponer I am not!

So, I have set up my laptop in the dining room so I can organize my coupons but I keep getting distracted so I figure I will put my thoughts on here.  I have started collecting coupons and printing them from tons of websites so I can try to become one of those crazy people on tv.  :)  I already have a binder full of coupons for just about anything you can think of.  I have maxed out my printing allotment for most of them so now I'm just trying to get them all into a spreadsheet so it will be easier to know what I have and when it expires, etc.  I just get so bored with entering all that info.

I am the proud owner of an extensive baseball card collection (yes my inner 10 year old boy came out at one time) and I ended up taking all of the cards out of the sleeves in order so I could use the sleeves for my coupons.  :)  Trey made fun of how anal I was about my cards even though most of them aren't worth more than the paper they were printed on.  Maybe when Jeffrey gets old enough, he can go through them and see if any of them are actually worth anything.

Anyway, we haven't gone to the store with all my coupons yet but we plan on it soon.  I figure if I can save atleast $50 it will all be worth it.  I am just having a hard time setting everything up and by the time I match everything up to the sales papers, make a list of what to buy where, it has changed weeks and I have to start all over.  Hopefully I can get this all worked out soon.  I am already tired of going to the store and spending money on things I know I have coupons for!  Plus every time I turn around I hear about ANOTHER coupon website so of course I have to go check it out which leads to more printing (if the website is worth anything) and more organizing.

If any of you have any tips or good advice on couponing feel free to let me know.  I don't want to be as extreme as the people on tv but I would love to stock up on things we actually use and help save some money.  Well, I guess I better get back to organizing my spreadsheet......

Plans for Memorial Day Weekend?

Do you have plans for this weekend?  Are there any traditions that you and your family have for Memorial Day? We are traveling to South Georgia and Florida this weekend to see all of Trey's grandparents!  This will be the first time any of them have met Jeffrey so we are really excited.

First stop will be Papa and Oma's house in Lady Lake, FL!  Haley absolutely loves them and their house.  They are so good with her and always have something fun to do like ride around the area in a golf cart!  Ha ha!  Next on our trip will be Babu and GG's house in Tallahassee!  Haley is their first great grandchild so they are over the moon about her and I can only imagine how they are going to react to Jeffrey!  :)  While we are there, we will also get to see Trey's aunt, Jeanne, and her two boys, Caleb and Chase.  Caleb's girlfriend, Lindsey will be there too and we can't wait to see them!  Lindsey and I have already planned dinner at Barnabys!  LOL!  It is this really yummy pizza and wing place that we go to every time we come down.  Lindsey is a nanny so she plays with kids all day so Haley really loves playing with her.  :)

Monday morning we will start making our trip home but we will stop in Albany to see Trey's grandmother, Meme and his aunt, Ellen.  We haven't seen them since Christmas so it should be fun!  I think it's going to be a long trip but I love seeing all his grandparents.  I just hope Jeffrey does good in the car and sleeping somewhere strange, especially since the first two nights will be at someone's house and I don't want him to wake them up.  Then again, their house is so huge and spaced out, they probably wouldn't hear him at all!  Ha ha!

Well, I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day Weekend and remembers what the holiday is really for!

Word Press vs. Blogger

So, I have two blogs going right now.  One is www.amycail.com and the other is this one.  The first one is through WordPress and I have no clue what I'm doing on there.  The only thing I know how to do is post.  I can't change anything, can't link it to twitter, nothing.  Trey said he would help me figure it out but I like figuring some things out on my own.

I decided to create this blog because I assume blogger is easier to manage things with.  I have already figured out how to make the background, send the posts to twitter (I'm still trying to figure out if it will do it automatically), and how to post things to facebook.  Plus I can see who is looking at my blog.  I know there is a ton more I can do with each blog but I just don't know how.

So, if you have a blog, do you use Blogger or WordPress or something else?  What do you like about it?  What do you not like about it?  Any cool tips for either?

Who are we?

Well, I thought I would introduce my family to all of you.  My name is Amy.  I'm 29 years old.  Wow, that was hard to type! I definitely don't feel like what I thought a 29 year old would feel like.  Not sure what I expected.  I feel like my 20s have flown by.  Now, I'm not saying I haven't enjoyed them, I totally have!  During my 20s I have gone to college, met and married my wonderful husband, Trey and gave birth to my two beautiful babies, Haley and Jeffrey.  We have changed jobs, moved several times and have taken many road trips (both on motorcycles and in cars).

Haley is three years old and VERY independent.  She has recently given up on diapers and is officially in the "Big Girl" club!  We are so excited for her and we are loving the idea of only one in diapers.  Ha ha!  She is obsessed with Disney movies these days and has her opinions on her favorites.  She knows what she wants and when she wants it.  I have always heard people say that three is worse than the terrible twos and I am starting to believe it.  :) She has always been a good baby and toddler.  She still is.  However, with her growing independence comes defiance and an attitude.  We are trying very hard to keep calm and re-direct her but man it's hard sometimes.  I have a feeling this is just the beginning of what is to come in her teenage years.  Lord, help us all!  Just kidding!  :)

Jeffrey is three months old and is such a joy to our family.  He is very laid back and serious.  He is starting to smile more but I can tell he just wants to sit back and take everything in.  He loves his sleep, just like his mama! I think he loves his big sister already.  No matter what is going on, he smiles whenever she comes into the room (if he's awake...ha ha!).  I hope they love each other forever and take care of each other.  I can't wait to watch their relationship blossom and grow right along with them.

We have three dogs mixed in too!  Sparky is our Rat Terrier and the master of his domain.  He may be small but he lets you know he is there.  Chloe is our blue Weimaraner.  She is as moody as any teenage girl I know.  She really is a sweetheart if she gets to know you but it takes awhile for her to warm up to new folks.  Titan is our newest puppy.  He is a Great Dane and so full of energy!  He just turned a year old so he is still all puppy.  I don't think he realizes just how big he is.  It's pretty funny to watch him play with the other dogs and Haley.  I can honestly say that Great Danes are amazing with kids.  I love the other two dogs but if I had any idea how well Titan would get along with our kids, I would have nothing but Great Danes.  Haley can pull, poke, prod, jump on, sit on and take toys out of Titan's mouth and Titan always seems to let her.  It is pretty amazing watching them play.

Well, that's our family.  Feel free to let me you are reading this and any topics you want me to discuss or just to say hello!

A new beginning

Welcome to my new and improved blog!  I am going to try to my best to post on here several times a week.  I know I say that all the time but I am really excited about letting you all into our lives.  Feel free to comment on any post you enjoy.

I should start with how I came up with this blog.  I have always loved the song "My Front Porch" by Rascal Flatts and felt that it totally talks about everything I love dearly.  Nothing matters more to me than my precious family and friends.  I can't wait to let you all have a look in from our front porch!

Happy Reading!
